The 2nd and 3rd grafs of Dan Duggan's May 24, 2026 piece on the locker room impact of Jaxson Dart's and Abdul Carter's statements on politics: I state all of that up front because I recognize how toxic the waters I’m wading into can be (which is a big reason why I stay away from politics). I’m more interested in the Giants than political theater; that might not be the most sophisticated worldview, but it probably serves you well as Giants fans. So, I wasn’t going to weigh in on Dart introducing Trump because — one more time — I don’t care. But once teammate Abdul Carter reacted publicly to Dart’s appearance, the topic entered my domain.
Dan Duggan, New York Giants beat writer, at the Athletic, in a piece published on Sunday, May 24 2026 writes I don’t care that New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart introduced President Donald Trump at a rally in New York on Friday. I’m not saying that to avoid taking sides on a controversial topic. I genuinely don’t care about politics or others’ political views. When I turn on cable news once every four years on election night, I have no idea which channel CNN or Fox News is on my TV. If anyone wishes to judge my apolitical outlook, I couldn’t care less.

Because NFL analysts sure do contribute to the Typing Penis problem, and I think Hassan [sic] is a good example. But on Twitter, where all of this discourse plays out, he’s a certified Typing Penis, spending a lot of time belittling low-follower accounts with team helmets for avis. Indeed, like a lot of new-school sports analysts, Hassan’s [sic] Twitter style almost seems designed to prove every stereotype about statheads correct - he comes across as condescending, rude, and seemingly uninterested in convincing any skeptics of anything... It’s an archetype that goes all the way back to Bill James. It’s bad enough when a genuinely minority point of view spends all of its time dunking on people. It’s so much worse now that the nerds have won an unconditional surrender. Like Mark Zuckerberg still whining about being insufficiently adored, sports nerds engage in classic crybullying, the rage of the enfranchised.
