Eo = mc^2 E = mc Eo = moc^2 E = moc^2 E the total energy of the body m the mass of the body Eo the rest energy mo the rest mass of the same body Note! - The term "rest mass" mo is superfluous. - Instead of speaking of the "rest mass" m one should speak of the mass m of a body which for ordinary bodies is the same, ir the theory of relativity and in Newtonian mechanics. - In both theories, the mass does not depend on the reference frame. - We need to should bid a final farewell to the concept of mass dependent on velocity.
