Hi, I’m Astrid and I am running to be selected as a GPEW councillor in Brighton. I love this city a lot, the community is amazing. One of my first experiences in the city was when I was moving here and someone was transphobic to me. This alone would be awful, but someone in the city stepped up and defended me. This stuck with me and I think is what Brighton is about: sticking up for people who feel unable to speak. I’ve dedicated my life to trying to make this city better.

Unfortunately, Brighton isn’t a perfect city. I believe the community here is excellent and worth fighting for, but so many institutions are failing people. I had a mental health crisis and during this got served a Section 21 notice. I was, however, one of the lucky ones. When I went to Mill View twice pleading for help, I got put into a trial with a group called Venture People, meant to help people before a crisis. This person went into the council building begging for help for me, and there was nothing from the council except an argument with them. This group and Southdown helped me out of this crisis, but the idea the council only steps in when a bailiff is on your door is abhorrent. We need to do better with housing, and in a pre-emptive manner. Groups like the Young Persons Group run by Southdown also need our help. These services are precious but really stretched.

My main goal as a councillor is to listen to people and fix their problems. Many people will say “stop the boats”, but if you dig deeper, they have so many problems that lead them to that. We need to find their problems and dig for solutions.

I get sent all sorts of things to post from many people, from many different backgrounds and orientations, things like this gay love advert on YouTube with 'No Age Limit'.
So rather than address the fact YouTube is actually advertising "no age limit gay sex' that minors have access to, they would sooner post about whatever appears in my feed or whatever people send to me TO DISTRACT AND TROLL.
I don't give a fuck, trolls will always troll. You are all so predictable, you all like to steer a narrative rather than address the actual issue.

There have been calls going back a number of years for the role of Freemasonry in policing to be properly addressed, including as a recommendation in the report of the Daniel Morgan Independent Panel.

Victims should be able to know that when they report allegations to us, the officers investigating have been transparent about any potential conflicts of interest.

26Harassment

(1)A person (A) harasses another (B) if—

(a)A engages in unwanted conduct related to a relevant protected characteristic, and

(b)the conduct has the purpose or effect of—

(i)violating B's dignity, or

(ii)creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment for B.
