A narrower view of the group showing more detail, an hour later at 6.30pm by which time the sky is dark but the whole group has moved closer to the horizon. Saturn is the lowest member of the group, the Moon is a thin crescent above and to the left, and Venus is almost directly above the Moon. Venus is considerably brighter than Saturn.

By 3am the moon is inside the cluster obscuring some of the stars. The cluster is larger than the moon, so some stars always remain visible.
The moon is currently a couple of degrees outside the Pleiades cluster which contains seven bright stars and many fainter stars.
