The man wasn’t drunk. He was dead, and the puddle was his own blood. He lay on his back, his calm face contradicting the carnage that started below his jawline.

“Researcher at the college there, I presume? This is a long way to be from home.” Nyraleth held back her “I know” as she carefully measured a dose of tea. Her stock was dwindling, and it fueled that constant frustration that accompanied her when traveling. Hopefully, Fairtown would have a decent herbalist shop or two, and she could replenish her supplies. Traveling without tea would make this whole journey a wound with twice the salt than it already had. Now on Kickstarter.

Review by Alexandra: The characters feel more relatable than your standard fantasy MCs, and I CANNOT EMPHASIZE COMPETENCY ENOUGH. It was a breath of fresh air to see the story progress well because they would communicate and make informed decisions. Its a weird thing for me to latch on to, but it made this so enjoyable for me. The characters still feel their anger or sadness or frustration, but they regulate in the moment to make sure their plans are successful... and i ate that right up.

Several baddies who often play against each other or even change sides. Ryell. Not a bad guy, but readers hate him anyway. Dual, interwoven magic system.
