I collect these cookbooks looking for vintage recipes that are like the ones our grandmothers/mothers made. I’m especially interested in recipes that might be hard to find.

A red metal contraption is bolted to my counter top. It had a long pointed prong to mount the apple. Then you hand crank the shaft which pushes the apple through a hole that cores it & at the same time pushes the outside edge of the apple against a slanted blade that peels off the skin. The skin is one long thread & the sliced apple is a continuous coil. When pulled it looks like an accordion. To separate the sliced apple into individual pieces you simply make one cut down the side of the apple to free slices.
