and now it's impossible to have a proper backup without paying for it. i wind up paying for one month's worth to do a backup to a new phone then discontinue. for fucks sake.

Apple starts innovating only when there’s a pile of EU court orders to remove the walled garden fences. iCloud still can’t upload folders, horrible experience, broken sync, etc.

I don’t trust cloud storage so I’ve still got like 3 Gigs of unused space from my 5 gigs of icloud. But if I did, at least Google has given me 1.2TB of “free” storage - 1TB for using Google Fiber and extra storage for participating in stuff on top of the 15GB base
People forget other places give more cuz they go thru your data
