To stand against it would after all deprive them of the chance to enjoy it in reality. If they did they would have to face uncertainty and the inherent ugliness of the situation.

They would also have to face the fact that they probably get shot by the ones who stand for it. That's one part I'm less than cheesed about...
(This one is not really confident that LLMs or other systems suffer in a way they would find relevant. But you know, you won't ever be confident and the *use* of LLMs shouldn't cause one to decide either way. Much like the existence of a cattle feedlot shouldn't make you want cows to be eradicated.)
