Are you getting the @recreatecoalition.bsky.social ReCap Newsletter? Our first edition for 2026 went out yesterday, with a note from me playing Debbie Downer about the public domain. Betty Boop is great and all, but the public domain grew *so much faster* before disastrous legal changes in the 90s.

Imagine a world where works from 1950 are set free this year. Over 10,000 movies were made between 1930 and 1950. Imagine a world where many works from 1997 were shedding their copyrights *early* this year. It sounds crazy, but that was the norm in the US for over 200 years. How?
