Newspaper clipping that reads, "Marie Schleinger committed suicide in St. Louis a few days ago by hanging herself in the kitchen on her house. She was discovered by a neighbor. Her husband testified that she was forty-five years of age; that he came to St. Louis in 1885 with his wife, five children and a bank account. A short time afterward his youngest child died, and he had to go the City Hospital. The other children were placed in an asylum, and his wife had to do her housework. The deceased got an idea that developed into insanity, acquiring the idea that her husband had fallen heir to $30,000 in Germany, and had, unknown to her, opened a big business in St. Louis. She had several times threatened suicide, but her husband did not think she would do it. On the morning in question the husband was wakened by his daughter, who informed him that the deceased had hanged herself. He cut her down and call in a physician, but she was dead."
