Remember: when we can stand back and see where we struggle, our children benefit. Different people hear Shark Music on different parts of the Circle. Wherever our Shark Music is triggered, our ability to respond to our children’s needs, on that part of the Circle, is limited. Also, when our Shark Music is triggered, our children get uncomfortable. By the time our children are eleven months old, they have learned to anticipate and avoid the needs on the Circle that set off our Shark Music. Unless we make changes now, as adults, our children will tend to feel uncomfortable with those needs they have learned to avoid, and so they will have a tendency to pass the same Shark Music on to another generation.”
If you grew up with our Neighbourhood, you may remember how we sometimes talked about difficult things. There were days... Even beautiful days... That weren't happy. In fact there were some that were really sad. Well, we've had a lot of days like that in our whole world. We've seen what some people do when they don't know anything else to do with their anger. I'm convinced that when we help our children find healthy ways of dealing with their feelings - ways that don't hurt them or anyone else - we're helping to make our world a safer better place.
