It sucks to hear this, I know, but truthfully, followers, plays, listeners, sales-- none of that is what makes you a good musician. it makes you feel better, but it doesn't change anything about your music. the worst part is (speaking from my own experience as an example), you can get thousands of new listeners and plays for a few weeks, but once the numbers die down again, you feel even worse. like people actually discovered my music, but didn't stick around. it hurts. so really, it sucks a lot to feel unseen, like no one recognizes your hard work, as if no one knows your creative abilities. but chasing the approval of others never helps. it will only make you feel worse in the long run. but I do feel for you and I'm sorry you're feeling stuck here. (heart emoji)

Multiple reasons... One, you don't have to have everything in common with someone to be friends with them. In fact, it makes conversations more diverse and interesting when you have very few overlapping interests. Two, most 25 year olds are not living in a whole different universe. When I was 16 (sixteen!) I worked two different jobs, one where I had a 40 year old coworker who was awesome and fun, and the other where I had TONS of 22+ year old coworkers. Were we different? Yes, but were we living in two different worlds? Absolutely not, we all woke up every morning to drive to the same job at 8 am! Three, it's actually beneficial to have friends of different age ranges. If you just surround yourself with a bunch of people your exact same age in the same place in life you are at, then you're not going to grow or develop much at all. The beauty in life is getting to interact and learn from all types of people from all walks of life. When I was 17 (still a high schooler!), I would drive 50 minutes to my friend's house to just spend the afternoon with her, walking through the woods and chatting, taking care of her dogs, and getting dinner together. And she was 70!
