Why are we still peeling pineapples like cavemen? 🛠️🍍 This gadget does it perfectly in seconds. Lazy? Maybe. Smart? Absolutely. #pineapplehack #funnyvideo #asmrcooking #foodhacks #cooksky #beestrot

Amaze! Amaze! Amaze! But I guess for my 3-4 pineapples a year I'll stick with my big, sharp knife.

Would like to see how mangoes 🥭 are cut when sold on the streets en masse. I avoid them in NYC worried about salmonella but maybe they are safe to eat.
@margot-and-hamish2.bsky.social · May 15
He's a one man industry preparing for selling on the streets. I expect they use the cut offs and sell them in packs too. Good invention for that.

Honestly it doesn't look like it saves that much time.

But it leaves all the div--oh. Well, that right there is complete mastery.
Trev · May 15
🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️ Is it because in 99.99% of cases we peel them in single numbers a day using *checks OP wording* ‘cavemen’ tools like a kitchen knife, where the use of a chunky, commercial-scale pineapple peeler rig is as nonsensical as a domestic kitchen apple-peeler gadget? Also, video has ‘caveman’ action 🙄🤦🏻
Digital Soundbath · May 15
Lazy? You try cutting 75 pineapples a day
Lew Bryson · May 15
Yeah, I'm gonna run out and buy one of those bitches for the three whole pineapples I get in a year!

I always wondered what the purpose of a pineapple was in nature... not sure it has one, but they sure taste great if we could only make eating them easier... oh year, here's something
Michael Anderson · May 15
That occupies a lot of kitchen real estate, especially countertop. I peel them in virtually the same amount of time using a chef's knife and a cutting board...maybe 6 times/year. Might be good for a commercial operation. All others would do better learning proper knife skills.
Brian M. Wise: Snarkasaurus Rex. Ω, MFers. · May 16
I mean, it's still a set of knives, dude
Windloft Workshop - Comms Open · May 15
That’s exactly how I ‘butcher’ my ‘freshly caught’ pineapple with just a knife, but I waste a fair bit more fruit because I can’t be arsed to cut narrower and shallower cuts to then deal with those little fibrous divots all over it.
Jesus · May 15

Nadine 🏳️⚧️💖 · May 15
Yeah, I’d be loosing fingers if I tried that!
Slartibartfast · May 15
Because personally, I never have more than one pineapple at a time to peel, I don't have any room in my kitchen for another gadget, and I suspect that the time required to clean that thing will outweigh the time saved by not just using a knife.
Matt Hiller · May 16
I dunno, man, any cavemen who came across the wild precursors of modern pineapple cultivars were looking at a fruit much difference in size shape appearance and spininess than what modern or even pre-Columbian-exchange 15th century South American agriculture produced!

Install in stores that sell pineapples like coffee grinders. youtube.com/shorts/M6ePj...
rosethornne · May 15
Wasting about half the edible parts there. No, your food does not need to all be soft and easily chewed like baby food.
fakeconsultant · May 15
I can disassemble a pineapple in about 90 seconds with a kitchen knife And I don't have to clean up that thing That's why
Curious Bystander · May 15
You peel your pineapples? 🤯
@ericjanssen.bsky.social · May 15
Used to have one of those old fashioned crank peelers (they still sell them) that could peel AND core an apple on a rotisserie spike. 🍎 The day someone sells one for pineapples (without defacing it to get the pockmarks out), I will shove money down their throat. 🍍😋
Reverend Dr. Khlamydia Kardashian, MD, PhD · May 15
that would cause multiple fatalities and lawsuits in the US. we're not the best
@straightarrow67.bsky.social · May 15
Seconds? No this looks labor intensive. It may yield the maximum fruit available per fruit. Look at this Korean pineapple processing plant. Not like that primitive Chinese tool. www.youtube.com/shorts/5XHHm...

@aquart1.bsky.social · May 15
It's a bit bulky for the average kitchen.
Falcon the Gooner · May 15
That actually looks less efficient than using a big sharp knife, especially as you have to go back in to fully remove all of it

“Lazy”!? That’s still so much work. Working smarter not harder isn’t lazy.
@wfrankdunn79.bsky.social · May 15
I have a stainless-steel device with two ring saws that cores and removes the outer skin at the same time. I bought it in Hawaii.
Ginger · May 15
In the US, we’d dip that pineapple in batter, deep fat fry it, coat it in chocolate and sell at the county fair as “healthy.”

Tim · May 15
I lived in the Phillipines over 50 years ago. I could buy a pineapple for about 5 cent and for another 3 cent the vendor would peel it for you and bag it. He used a machete and it looked just like that when he was done
thorjansen · May 15
But the divot-reaming part cuts away a lot of fruit.
Reverend Ike (he, him) · May 15
@zyxomma.bsky.social can we get one?
Andrew Milne 🇨🇦🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇦 · May 15
It’s the counter space.
A-C · May 15
It looks like it would only take a slight bit of additional engineering to make the spinny device also do the coring.
Tom Crain · May 15
