Khalid’s life was rooted in service. He spent years helping others, advocating for dignity, supporting people trying to build better lives, and contributing to the strength of our community. Whether he was advocating for workers or simply showing up for family, friends, and community members, he carried himself with care, humility, compassion, and purpose. His work mattered, but what mattered even more was the way he was always willing to be present for others. The pain of losing him on Eid al-Adha is impossible to put into words. Eid al-Adha reminds us of sacrifice, faith, and the responsibility we have to care for one another. On a day when Muslims around the world gather with loved ones, share blessings, and remember the meaning of giving, Khalid’s family was forced to face a loss no family should ever have to carry.

Dear PLSAS Staff and Families, I am writing to inform you that Hopkins Public Schools has formally extended an offer of the superintendency to Dr. Michael Thomas, which he accepted this evening. He will begin his new role on July 1. I am proud of the work we have accomplished together and want to express my gratitude for Dr. Thomas’ service to our district over the past nearly four years. Through his commitment to our students, staff, and families and his leadership in developing our new strategic plan, he has established a strong foundation for the district’s future, upon which we will continue to build.
