A user named R Local commented in the article the following: The thing I find so ironic about the Silicon Valley mentality is that so many Silicon Valley people seem to think that what makes America special is them.

This couldn't be farther from the truth.

What has made America innovative is a system where anyone with a good idea has a shot of moving it forward. And if you turn the whole thing into a de facto corrupt monarchy with you at the top, no matter how clever you think you are, you'll create the same stagnation that every country with a corrupt monarchy throughout history has had.

People aren't special on their own; effective systems are what make people special -- when they allow individual people to thrive.

To dismantle the system that created your opportunities so that you can stay in power is toxic narcissism disguised as policy.
