Reminding me that the only ‘engineering ethics’ I was ever taught as a software engineer was a single day in high school comp sci where we discussed the false emissions readouts from VW vehicles circa 2015. Not a spirited or comprehensive discussion, either. And that’s more than most get.
Oblivious to the fact they are getting paid to make the chains that the regime will use to bind their children. True for a lot of people in tech now, just more obviously so for people at the most malevolent companies - Palantir, X, Meta, etc...
Like other tech companies, many of those employees are immigrants themselves

In the leadership slack I’m in there are definitely palantir, anduiral, and other shady as fuck companies represented. We really need to be better about ostracizing these people for their choices in making this hellscape possible.
A few years ago I was at a consultancy who were approached by Palantir for some subcon work. Very fortunately nearly all my colleagues were like "we'll walk out rather than work with them", and so they had to look elsewhere. Management however would have had no qualms about it.

That’s horrible. Definitely one of the downsides of open source; it’s likely these tools were built using projects whose creators are so vehemently opposed to this ideology.
If someone went to work for a tech company called “palantir” and somehow didn’t expect to be working on amoral or immoral shit, I would worry about that person’s cognitive abilities. And cashing in Palantir equity? It’s founded by a Peter Thiel, when has it not been evil?
