Ben Morris @benmorris.com · Dec 17 UA2359 Departed ORD at 10:53PM UTC (22:53) heading east. This is dusk. Everything illuminated are planes due to the low level of the sun. Here is flightradar, UA2359 is circled, this video was taken out of the right side of the plane looking south.

But why would all these planes be flying at the exact same altitude? Wouldn’t some appear higher or lower than the clouds?
How often does this happen? It seems pretty unusual. What you're saying makes sense, but then why haven't we seen more of these before?
