“No necromancers here,” Papa smiled affably up at the cavalrymen. “We’re simply foraging. With your leave, of course.” “And what’s that she’s got there?” I cowered behind Papa’s cloak, clutching my basket to my chest. Inside, a superb deathcap lurked beneath a tumble of field mushrooms. Child I might be, but I did not think the locals would like that. “Just the makings of a fine mushroom stew.” The guards harrumphed and rode onward. Only when they’d vanished in the thicket did I dare breathe again. “Come, child,” said Papa. “There’s no raising the dead without a fresh body.”
There is no sterile office cubicle. There is no soul-sucking corporate job. No meeting notifications, no automated task reminders, no paper-bag lunch to extract from the crammed communal fridge during your half-hour break at noon. There’s only the gentle sound of cascading water. Only the lazy drift of floating citrus. Only the quiver of the whiskers and the contented shake of the rump. Be the capybara. Be.
The Three Mice One day, two mice were lazing around when they heard a loud and piercing squeal coming from the distance: a feline, graceful yet menacing, was sadly killing a third mouse. A while later, one of the two remaining mice met up with the cat, with a special offer: the mouse offered to reveal where the other mouse was hiding, but the cat had no patience—and attacked and killed the betrayer at once.
