Space Shuttle at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. This is the Independence, an exact replica which never went to space, but the plane it sits atop is NASA 905, one of NASA's two modified Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft used to ferry the shuttles around the country. I was here in 2025.

I saw the Atlantis at the Kennedy Space Center, oh, must be more than a decade ago now. It flew over 30 missions to space. Fantastic looking beasts, aren't they?

I lived near Edward’s Air Force base when all the testing of Enterprise took place. It was incredible to see.

It's not an "exact replica" as the damn thing is made out of painted canvas. Living in Houston, we were first stunned, and then angry, that Houston, home of the Space Program, didn't get a real shuttle but New York City did. "New York, we have a problem?"
