Public libraries are govt institutions and only as good as their volunteer governing bodies who often can't be voted out. Some create policies that harm vulnerable populations, press criminal charges for lost items & use police as building security who sometimes get a free peek at borrower records

This is a false equivalence because data centers are just pumping out garbage and the data in them is completely useless and being hoarded. Libraries, schools and I don't think book stores because they're behind a paywall... Those require human ingenuity motivation and hard work to access.

Most of them use the other kind . Data centres if built near cooling water can heat exchange and use very little resource. Solar power also helps give them a tiny footprint.
