Warthog: (nodding) Bon... then we run! *They look at each other, nod, then turn and sprint off just as the steamroller crushes the spot where they had been standing. Dust settles. The machine keeps moving, oblivious to their debate... and their escape. Curtain falls.

Warthog: (pauses, glancing nervously at the approaching steamroller) Oui... c’est vrai. But... perhaps... computing can... calculate escape? Water Vole: Nein! Machine is too slow. But ze feeling... zis instinct... maybe zis help! Warthog: (eyes narrowing) Instinct? Zis is... chaos! Water Vole: Ja, aber... life is chaos! Computing can only... measure ze world. But ze world... cannot be measured! Warthog: (thinking hard) Peut-être... you are... un peu correct. Computing... iz like ze steamroller. Powerful... but cold. Water Vole: Genau! Machines make ze world... smaller. And we... we are just... crushed! Warthog: (sighs deeply) Alors... what do we do? We... can talk... but... Water Vole: We... run! Warthog: Run? From machine? Zis... is chaos! Water Vole: Ja... but sometimes chaos... ze only way!

Venn Diagrams are great. They're like two big circles hugging each other and what's in the hug is what they have in common. In a way, I hope every nation could do this - hug each other like a Venn Diagram and link up on what they have in common. But nations aren't circles. They're usually kind of rectangular, with odd bits stick out here and there. Like, France looks like a Rhombus. South America looks like a chicken leg. Ireland looks like a teddy bear.

Maybe it went to serve a knight? It floated back to medieval England, taken on by a brave and eccentric knight called Sir Flange, who would regularly practice fighting imaginary dragons early in the morning. Maybe the page grew tired of Sir Flange and then drifted off to become part of an enormous database, which contained all the information gathered by Rockwell Automation's Retroincabulator. Who knows?

Actually- just checking - it was their birthday. His name was Steve. He lived in Nuneaton. He loved his wife Elaine and his two kids - Neil and Susan. His favourite holiday was to Portugal, in 1989. His cat died soon after he wrote this. Run over by his neighbour, Gordon. They never spoke to eachother after that. Steve now lives in the Outer Hebrides where he tends a small farm. Elaine passed away in 1999 from cancer. Steve met Gloria, a Brazilian dancer living in Glasgow. They met over the internet. It took time for Neil and Susan to accept her, but they’re now all on good terms. Gordon is now in prison for financial crimes committed in the lead up to the 2008 economic crash. Nobody likes Gordon. He’s a cock.
