suzanne @binarypartitioned.space · Feb 10 devil may cry 1 is so good what the heck like, it has a lot of resident evil dna in it, and that's charming in its own way—with the fixed camera angles and the backtracking and daft puzzles—but also it just feels really good to punch the shit out of demons? they did such a good job???

The vibes in DMC 1 are so perfect, so creepy and sinister without letting up the power fantasy. I love it in DMC4 too, which get's a bad rap sometimes, but also rules.
It's SUCH a fantastic experience, even as the series changes DMC1 is such a perfectly special package of its own.

Yeah it's an all-time great pivot based on a feature. "Oops a tester realised we can juggle the zombies with the shotgun. Let's just make a game about doing that."
