learned that the original design for Flinders Street Station had a gorgeous arched concourse roof with huge windows and I'm a little heartbroken that they cut that part mid-construction

Yeah it's such a shame. I feel like we got 70% of the way to a classic train station but couldn't quite stick the landing. The upstairs rooms are attractive when they occasionally open them up for art installations.
