Seymour was interviewed by Magic Talk radio's Sean Plunket about Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's proposed "Christchurch Call". His remarks were later highlighted by Seymour's party on Twitter. He referred to "mass murderers" in history such as Mao Tse Tung, Stalin and Hitler using the suppression of free expression to gain power. He then added: "I just think Golriz Ghahraman is completely wrong. I don't know if she understands what she is saying but Golriz Ghahraman is a real menace to freedom in this country."
RNZ earlier revealed an internal police review found the sexual assault investigation by former Detective Senior Sergeant Darren Folau was "poor", that the complainant was "not listened to and not believed" and that the young man's sporting career was "prioritised over [the complainant] and any offending against her".
He started his Parliamentary career as National's MP for Hawke's Bay from 1990 to 1996, after which he joined NZ First. He resigned from Parliament that year after it was found that his parliamentary secretary had forged a signature in the name of the non-existent "Antoinette Beck" to grant a poll contract to a company part owned by his wife.

Finance Minister Nicola Willis says her office "hadn't been using a huge amount of AI". Willis did say when they embarked as a government "down this path" it became clear "that if I'm asking the public service to use more of these tools, then I need to understand them better". "Actually recently I've said to my office, help educate me about this, use these tools yourself." Willis said she wants to be prepared to use it and has been impressed with how her staff have been able to deploy tools to great effect encouraged anyone to give it a go.
