The flyingless website makes it clear that the initiative is not about shaming.

I do understand the point re shaming but isn’t it a little different when individuals who claim to care about the environment, the planet, ignore all evidence and continue high carbon birding activities? I won’t personally shame an individual but I will continue to make this point generally.
When the flying less movement started to gain media attention it was misrepresented as ‘flight shaming’. Kevin Anderson points here to the difference between ‘flight shame’ and ‘flight shaming’.
