Dear Benton, Crumble & Frost, I was just going over my emails—mostly just ignoring a mountain of spam from bakeries I’ve personally taken down—and I happened to see your email. The one where you so kindly informed me that I would not be joining your law firm. And honestly? I was like, “Oh, okay. Cool. I didn’t want to work there anyway.” It’s not like I spent half the night drafting that hilarious cover letter or anything. Totally wasn’t a big deal. But, you know, I did think about it for a second. And while I’m not begging, obviously, and I definitely don’t care that you passed on me, I figured I’d just check in. Just to see if you’re absolutely sure you want to let me go. No pressure or anything. Sure, I’m a dessert—and yes, I might have a tendency to end up in a mouth, but I can still hold my own in the courtroom, especially when I’m properly chilled. I’m the kind of cake who’s always ready to rise to the occasion. Who wouldn’t want that on their team, right? I’ve got the spice, I’ve got the layers, and I promise I’m not a one-hit-wonder. You’ll never find a more stable dessert (honestly, you probably shouldn’t be hiring unstable cakes to begin with, but whatever). I mean, it’s cool, you’re busy—law firms are wild, I get it. But just think about it. Maybe you missed something when you “rejected” me. Maybe a second look could change your minds. And if not? No biggie. I’ll just go out and find another firm who gets me. I’ll be fine. I don’t need your validation. But just in case you have a spot for someone who’s ready to handle complex litigation, complex flavor profiles, and complex office politics… well, I’m your cake. Anyway, no rush. I’m sure I’ll just find some other place where I’m valued for my layered excellence. Totally. No big deal. But if you change your mind, I’m here. Still fresh. Still ready to rise.
