- So instead of fighting fascism, everyone who takes such a standpoint can only aim at: slowing down the "inevitable" process of fascization, giving it more "civilized" forms. The notorious theory of the "lesser evil" is based on this fatalistic view of the inevitability of fascism: Brüning is the lesser evil compared to Papen, Schleicher compared to Hitler, tomorrow maybe: Hitler compared to "National Socialist extremists", etc. ad infinitum.
