"Sweden has religious freedom now, but 500 years ago it became Lutheran and banned Catholicism and all its institutions for hundreds of years. Not until 1873 it was allowed for Swedish citizens to become catholic. This leaves traces in a culture. One thing I see is that Swedish culture has no concept of redemption. You fuck up, you fuck up. You are never not on the shitlist again. No 40 Hail Marys or paying ablutions. I think this explains partly why Swedish people are so afraid of sticking out."
