These were the most frequently applied colours in the production of antique Scottish Bo’ness pottery ceramic animals. Hopefully this will provide a useful aid to the identification of genuine figures.

A recently taken photograph of a large, imposing pair of antique, "grinning", glass-eyed, Bo'ness pottery lions. Compare with the illustration of that figure as it appeared in the book "Scottish Pottery" by J.Arnold Fleming, as first published in 1923. These antique figures were first produced in the late 19th century and are much sought-after today.
Yet another recently taken photo of an antique, glass-eyed, Bo'ness pottery ceramic dog compared with an illustration of that same figure as it featured in the book "Scottish Pottery" by J.Arnold Fleming, published in 1923, although the figures originated much earlier.
