Oracle could face more than $7bn in collateral requirements for a massive data centre in Wisconsin, after the state’s power regulator tightened credit requirements to protect households from rising electricity costs. The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, which is responsible for scrutinising and setting the prices the state’s utilities can charge, has declined to reconsider rules it imposed on utility We Energies, which would require Oracle to provide a $7bn letter of security at a yearly cost of more than $100mn per year.

(long post alert, but please read) It was 16 months ago today when my life turned upside-down, sweeping me into an uncertainty I've never known, and handing our new family the biggest challenge we've had in our short time together. It was five grueling months before I landed steady work again, today marking 11 months in that position. But it's not enough. It hasn't been enough, and the squeeze is on. I'm not here to ask for any handouts. What would be far more useful right now is a *much* better paying job. Believe you me, whatever the job search equivalent of "doom scrolling" is called, I've been drowning in it. Very few interviews have come from the literal dozens of positions I apply to in any given week. And I get it: this economy sucks the big one right now, and will for the foreseeable future. I'm not the only one in this boat, and many more are drowning each & every day. So while I am very much thankful for being employed in ANY fashion right now, the hard reality is, it's not enough. At this point, I don't really need links to job boards (unless you truly know of a secret one that I've yet to uncover in thousands of hours of searching). I'm convinced the only thing that might give me an edge at this point is if you know somebody (or know somebody who knows somebody), who is personally involved in the hiring and/or where they can personally vouch for me. My resume has been revamped multiple times, my cover letters have reached new heights of creativity, and I've learned how to "game the system," so to speak... without one shred of evidence that any of it makes a damn difference in the first place.
