May 1st, 2026 WhiteTPoison: Been toying with storing state in expanded dolphin memory game side instead of relying on Windows functionality. It seems to be working but resims don't tunction as expected and due to size constraints l had to compress state and the compression/decompression algorithms are slowing the game to about 52fps Dan (replying to WhiteT): whats the benefit of doing it with dolphin instead of doing it OS side? WhiteT: No changes to dolphin means it can be plug and play with different versions of dolphin given certain requirements Motobug: also for better macOS/Linux compatibility WhiteT: Got resims working. Also im up to 58fps
WhiteT is aiming to make each Saturday's at 2:00 PM EST a consistent time + day to do dev work, she'll ofc do it on other days too when she can this just means Saturday should ideally be a consistent timeslot to do work. As such we encourage anyone else who wants to help or collab with dev work to join in VC here and work together on stuff! It won't be a super planned thing per se just an encourgement for people to hop in around that time and disscuss / work together!
### Is Doubles planned to be supported? Doubles should work in a later iteration of the alpha, and be supported in the eventual Full release including doubles matchmaking. ### Will side modes like ASR, items, etc be supported? The Alpha will likely include these modes by side effect of it being emulator level rollback, but they’d be unlikely to be tested and may crash. The Full release doesn’t have these types of modes in-scope. ### Are replays and console mirroring still in the works? Yes, ideally they will be at a similar scope as Slippi's versions
# Current state of affairs 2026 / FAQ ### What will the Alpha release look like? The Alpha release will be a PR into P+ Dolphin with an additional syringe plugin. In non nerd speak this will be a custom version of P+ Dolphin that includes the rollback code, whether or not it gets added to the official P+ Dolphin release or comes out as a separate release is TBD. It will be like normal netplay where you'll open Netplay, host a lobby, and send a connect code to your opponent. Within the Netplay window there will be button to toggle between Rollback and Delay Based, using Rollback mode will let you play the game with Rollback netcode! Essentially the Alpha will just be regular netplay but using Rollback instead of Delay Based, no matchmaking, no custom menu's, etc. This is being done to get the netcode out faster so people can enjoy the gameplay and also do rigorous testing and debugging. ***Current ETA: NONE, it shall release when it releases*** ### What will the Full release include? The Full release will be a much more Slippi-eqsue experience. A launcher for the application, in-menu matchmaking, fixed replays for rollback, and a stretch goal of more fleshed out replays. The scope and look of this launcher is unkown right now as the primary focus atm is the Alpha & netcode itself. ***Current ETA: NONE*** ### What mods of Brawl will be supported at launch / out the box? Currently there are plans for vanilla Brawl, P+, and PM 3.6 to be supported at launch, however codeset differences in PM 3.6 may cause compatibility issues, and may have to be scrapped if it proves too difficult to solve. Ideally the P+ 3.6 conversion mod (3.6R) could resolve this, to be determined. As for other brawl mods (REX, Brawl Minus, etc.) those would be up to the developers of the respective mods to resolve any compatibility issues.
# Current Plans Brawlback is gonna have an alpha release that will only be rollback in game, no matchmaking. It’ll be achieved by merging the brawlback code into the existing P+ Dolphin, you’ll still have to open the netplay window and send a connect code as usual but actual gameplay will include rollback. This is being done as a way to get rollback out sooner, allow for testing and bug checking, and let players play while WhiteT focuses on menu’s and the actual launcher, app, etc. for the eventual full release. Remember that this will be an ALPHA release, not the full release so don’t expect it to be the full product. # No ETA for a release, it’ll come out when it’s finished.
