She tells herself that she is too busy to take care of a child anyways, as if the years living with her parents' comments on her body's functions had not ingrained a feeling of disfunction. Vivian denied herself to even want a child in her future, long before she was of age to have one. Her mother eyed her with guilt, like she faulted herself for passing on her own pain, which magnified in her daughter. Vivian couldn't bear it. She is not a stranger to flings and casual intimacy, seeking the company of others and appearing as if she's got everything under control. Raw, unflattering emotions are concealed. She has a reputation to uphold. She sleeps with people to feel connected, but she will not commit because she had learned from her parent's passionless marriage that love is a trap.

Her hair is neat and in a low bun. -- The first time I thought about what kind of mother Vivian would have was when I was writing a scifi AU with her in it. Vivian doesn't have a lot of connection with her parents, preferring to find company elsewhere, so what would Virginia be like? Outwardly anxious. Judgemental. Vain. Insecure. Prideful, much more than Vivian. Very "keep up appearances" type. But despite that, a tragic woman taught to be that way by the people around her, someone who gave up the one thing that made her feel nice about herself many years ago, and never experienced live for herself since. Definitely the type to say thing like "Unhand me!" or "Hold your tongue" or "That is ridiculous and completely inappropriate!"
"Was this your idea of perfection?" A father, mother, and teenage daughter on a couch. The parents are looking away, and the daughter looks at the viewer with a bottle of medicine in her hands. On the wall on the father's side are newspaper clippings. On the mother's side are ballet trophies. In the middle, above the daughter, is a certificate, an old photo of two figures holding a piece of paper, and above is a framed painting of the parent's wedding day, though most of it is out of frame. Near the father's side of the couch is a whiskey decanter. Near the mother's side is a potted plant. Most of the palette consists of deep green and browns. LORE: The Everhardt family- [Arthur:] An ambitious workaholic and distant father. Holds the weight of continuing his family legacy and bloodline on his shoulders. May have some kind of midlife crisis that he's trying to bury. [Vivian:] Daughter with her father's ambition and stubbornness. Is a bit rebellious. Insecure about her own infertility and takes medicine for her condition. Does not want to become her parents. [Virginia:] Uptight ex-ballerina who was forced to stop for her own declining health. She birthed Vivian, but couldn't have another child. Is now a bit of an insecure, strict mother, and works for her husband's company. Never really got to live for herself. ------------ The Everhardts own an incredibly successful publishing company and pressure themselves to appear perfect, but it's not quite the same behind closed doors. They did not marry out of love, but out of duty, thinking love would naturally come after. Incredibly repressed because of how they grew up, Vivian saw this loveless and transactional dynamic growing up, and learned that committing is a trap. She'll grow up to seek the affection of many, but not to settle down.
Featuring an old OC of mine, Silas Flavros, a shapeshifting demon who had to regrow his jaw and adopt different personas to survive hell. Behind him are flowers: black tulips (strength and power), purple irises (wisdom), dog rose (pain & pleasure). Someone's gloved hand reaches through the flowers and is placed on his right shoulder. The text at the bottom reads "The Devil Calls". Silas is dressed in historical fashion--white shirt, a dull cornflower blue ascot, and a brown waistcoat. Was inspired by old victorian/edwardian botanical illustrations. Intentionally made two tulip leaves curl near the top of his head to look like horns :)

My OC, Sinclair, in a universe where she's a history bounding witch and lives on a farm in somerset with her farmer/wood carving father (Miles Carver), and her hunting/shotgun instructor mother (Elizabeth "Liz" Carver). Her mother dresses her up in a mix of edwardian, 1930s, and 1940s styles. At 5, Sinclair's mother also taught her the practicality of hunting and death. I tend to RP her in this universe, and this version of Sinclair is going through autistic depression. But it's mostly me exploring alexithymia, disconnect, and pragmatism, and how that influences her inner life. She tends to carve antlers and wood to regulate, often lingering in forests or lakes.
My OC Vivian Everhart, CEO of Everhart & Co, at her office with a co-worker and close friend of 10 years. A green glass lamp, pen holder, and rotary phone decorate her vintage desk.
