This painting was based off an old newspaper picture from pre-WW2. The bridge was used as the target for the bombing of Hiroshima and reportedly survived the blast.

I happened upon this flower before I knew it existed, which doesn't happen much for me anymore. I'm usually looking for specific plants that I've heard about. Being an orchid and a parasite (loosely) makes it even more interesting and exciting. I photographed this plant near Corvallis, Oregon over a decade ago and finally completed the painting today.
