This fall we had exceptional auroras due to the peak of the sunspot cycle and multiple CMEs. Here's a shot of my neighbor's house with the aurora behind it. Amateur radio operators love this phase of the solar cycle because it helps radio propagation, but these atmospheric fireworks make a mess!
