A simple filter doesn't do what DLSS successfully does. Look at the lighting in Hogwarts and Starfield. The game engines struggle with a dull unlit look. Here they are missing lighting bouncing through the room from the windows. Without it everything looks game-y and flat.

A filter doesn't "understand" (infer) the geometry of floors and objects to bounce and reflect the window light. You need the type of model DLSS 5 works from. People focus on faces, but that seems to be a separate part of the model, which I would want them to work on and give more controls for.
