From both Jonathan and myself, thank you to the IBPA and the judges for this tremendous honor.

I'm grateful to be representing the sole comic in the Science Fiction & Fantasy category as the medium is a magnificent one and often undervalued, both artistically and financially.

Publishing a story about a robot in 2025 can be a deeply misinterpreted task. That said, I can't think of a more apt way to consider this effort than what Jonathan has already written in the book’s afterward: “this is not a story about what is now called Artificial Intelligence, which desecrates the Earth, mind, and spirit. Like so many stories about robots, golems, and homunculi, this is a story about human beings.”

As a shepherd of the comic arts, I humbly ask from the depths of my being of you; those I hold in admiration - who do the hard work of bringing books to life, to collectively and resolutely reject and abjure the encroachment of the technocratic chicanery currently called generative AI. At best, it's the single most erosive event in the history of copyright and much more damningly, it is foundationally, diametrically opposed to the act of craft.
