A small pink seahorse with deeper red pink bumps all over its body sits almost motionless near a bumpy bit of dark pink coral. It moves fins, but is otherwise motionless, clinging by its tail.
Two purple iridescent worms covered in armor plates looking similar to roly-polies seem to be peacefully coexisting when one seems to spot the other and sort of lash out with a long beak-like mouth to chomp the other.

Famous photograph of Serbian-American inventor Nikola Tesla in his laboratory in Colorado Springs around 1899, supposedly sitting reading next to his giant "magnifying transmitter" high voltage generator while the machine produced huge bolts of electricity. The photo was a promotional stunt by photographer Dickenson V. Alley; a double exposure. First the machine's huge sparks were photographed in the darkened room, then the photographic plate was exposed again with the machine off and Tesla sitting in the chair. In his Colorado Springs Notes Tesla admitted that the photo is false: "Of course, the discharge was playing when the experimenter was photographed, as might be imagined!" Tesla's biographers Carl Willis and Mark Seifer confirm this. During 1899-1900 Tesla built this laboratory and researched wireless transmission of electric power there. The Magnifying Transmitter, one of the largest Tesla coils ever built, with input power of 300 kW could produce potentials of around 12 million volts at a frequency of about 150 kHz, creating 130 ft. (41 m) "lightning bolts". The arcs in the image are 22 feet long. When he first turned it on, the machine blew out the Colorado Springs power company's generator. These long arcs were not a feature of the normal operation of the coil because they wasted energy; for these photos Tesla forced the machine to produce arcs by switching the power rapidly on and off. The photo was part of a publicity spread taken by photographer Dickinson Alley in December 1899 to accompany his magazine article Nikola Tesla, "The Problem of Increasing Human Energy", Century Magazine, The Century Co., New York, June 1900, fig. 8

Examples of agreement between computational simulations and in vivo data. Simulations show active Rho (cyan) and F-actin (orange) waves. In vivo data are time-lapse confocal microscopy videos from oocytes expressing untagged Ect2ΔNLS and RGA-3/4 mRNA, along with probes for active Rho (cyan) and F-actin (orange).

From a Reddit forum, a photo of a can of coconut milk with a blue label, papyrus text and a flip-top, on a sidewalk. It seems to hover because there's no visible shadow. The pavement is sort of unevenly colored, with bright spots, and the grass along it is green and lush.
Apparently this is the Weetabix mascot, like think skinhead versions of the California Raisins, shaped like rounded granola bars.

From Whisby Nature Park, two jet-black carrion crows doing some foraging in the woods, with green grass and a rotting log. They scuffle a bit, poke in the grass at stuff, and otherwise behave like typical crows.
A male carrion crow named Brandon loves the sound of his own voice, so he sings little songs while sitting on a desk. Russell's Rescue is a dedicated, vet-recommended bird rescue and sanctuary located in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, that specializes in helping corvids (crows, rooks, and magpies). The rescue was founded by Helen and Tristan Motteram, and inspired by their own disabled rook, Russell Crow.

An epaulette shark seen from above as it moves through sea shore shallows. You can see the paired fins moving in alternating ways, so that it looks like a salamander crawling along a cave floor. It's light brown with dark spots.

. This visualization shows dominant phytoplankton types from 1994-1998 generated by the Darwin Project using a high-resolution ocean and ecosystem model. The model contains flow fields from 1994-1998 (generated by the ECCO2 model), inorganic nutrients, 78 species of phytoplankton, zooplankton, as well as particulate and dissolved organic matter. Colors represent the most dominant type of phytoplankton at a given location based on their size and ability to uptake nutrients. Red represents diatoms (big phytoplankton, which need silica), yellow represents flagellates (other big phytoplankton), green represents prochlorococcus (small phytoplankton that cannot use nitrate), and cyan represents synechococcus (other small phytoplankton). Opacity indicates concentration of the carbon biomass.
The image above is the average ocean chlorophyll concentration measured by SeaWiFS since launch. Scientists can infer how much phytoplankton the ocean waters contain by measuring how much chlorophyll is present. The image reveals the close relationship between physical and chemical ocean processes—like temperature differences and nutrient upwelling from the deep ocean that happens near coastlines—and ocean plant life. Chlorophyll (and therefore phytoplankton) concentrations are higher in coastal areas than they are in the open ocean. They also are higher in planet's northern oceans than the southern. One of the interesting insights that came out of the generation of this multi-year chlorophyll map is the identification of the region of the world’s oceans that has the lowest chlorophyll concentration. That area, slightly west of Easter Island in the South Pacific Ocean (centered at 26 degrees South and 115 degrees West) had an average concentration of just 0.0186 milligrams of chlorophyll-a per cubic meter of seawater.
The globe has been flattened to an oval shape, with the continents in grey. The seas are shown by chlorophyll density in a color scale that ranges from blue (low) to red (high) and the unit of time is a month, so you see seasonal changes and year by year changes as well. The polar seas are the most productive, although they are also more seasonal, with large shifts by hemisphere & season.

This curious Pampas cat kitten discovered the trail camera, thanks to our conservation partners Pampas Cat Working Group - PCWG … and decided to take a selfie! 📷 Moments like this are incredibly rare and give our conservationists valuable insight into kitten survival and population health in the wild. 🌿 📷 Trail cameras allow researchers to monitor elusive species like the Pampas cat without disturbing them, helping guide protection efforts where they’re needed most. 🐾 Every glimpse of a kitten is a hopeful sign for a species facing habitat loss and human conflict. Quiet observations like this help ensure these small, secretive cats continue to roam the grasslands for generations to come. Because even the shyest wild cats sometimes steal the spotlight
