Season tickets aren't a good deal. I paid $39.09 for tickets that currently sell for $29. I paid the suckers price.
This is a chart of the Supplmental Poverty Measure taking into account taxes and transfers. Many measures of poverty only count the market earnings of people - but SPM also counts social assistance programs. Making our social assistance programs better doesn't have a big impact on the poverty rate. But it does have a big impact on the SPM. So if you want to doom about how nothing ever gets better, focus on the headline poverty rate. If you want to celebrate our victories of sharing the wealth more widely, look at the SPM.
