An update to Freud’s Id-Ego Superego seesaw, accounting for personality maturation, plotted along an IQ/Competence x-axis and an EQ/Compassion y-axis. Everyone starts at 0% IQ & EQ, but as we gain knowledge about the world in which we live, we tend to also gain apathy, & keep our selves in a psychological balance of Ego & adaptive psychopathology. As we gain compassion & understanding given our place in the world, we develop spirituality & a sense of belonging. As selfless love & detachment grow, adaptive psychopathy dies with it. As understanding & belonging grow, delusions (esp. of grandeur) die with it. Both high IQ & EQ are necessary for Equanimity, which allows us to maximize personal fulfillment.
