Victoria is the only state that still uses a voting method that allows voters to number just one box for the upper house during elections, with the preference flows then determined by the parties. It has led to the system being gamed by micro parties and resulted in MPs being elected with a microscopic number of primary votes. Laws introduced by the government to abolish GVTs will be supported by the Coalition, guaranteeing it will pass parliament. The changes are likely to benefit both the Greens and One Nation.

The exploration technology used in offshore wind projects is different to that used by the offshore oil and gas industry to detect oil and gas deposits. Oil and gas exploration uses a method called seismic testing or seismic blasting. This method refers to powerful sound sources, such as deep penetration seismic air gun surveys. Offshore wind projects use less invasive technology than those used for offshore oil and gas exploration. The technology used for offshore wind includes non-seismic high resolution geophysical (HRG) surveys. Non-seismic HRG surveys are not 'seismic blasting'. They are non-intrusive investigations that are used to map the seafloor and the geology underneath it to identify archaeological resources and debris left by other ocean users.

Quoting earlier studies Storchmann [13] documents that cross price elasticities of demand for car use with respect to public transport fares are virtually zero. That is, transit fares hardly have any short run impact on car use.
Pojani said experiences with public transport in Brisbane varied due to major service gaps outside the inner-city, even though 50¢ fares made public transport more accessible and increased patronage. “Our study indicates that even with cheaper travel, many people feel they can’t rely on public transport alone and continue to depend on their cars,” she said.
