Back down to Ingrid and the Orchestrator. Ingrid is looking up at her, the Orchestrator silhouetted atop a hill of eyeballs. ORCHESTRATOR: i see now that convincing you to join me was futile. yet i will forfeit your power for the sake of the cycle. the world must be protected from itself.
Back in Nowhere. Ingrid, still fully bulked-up, is staring down the Orchestrator, who is looking much worse for the wear. Her TV screen head is shattered and dented, her weapon arms are torn off, and one arm has come loose from her straitjacket. ORCHESTRATOR: heed my words ingrid gottoli. you have utterly defeated me. i am weaponless and you are connected to the entirety of nowhere's power. there is nothing that i can feasibly do to oppose you now. this i acknowledge. The Orchestrator flinches backward and releases her grip on Ingrid. Ingrid falls back towards the ground, the shadows whirling around her body. ORCHESTRATOR: zzt. pressurized blood to fire zzztyour bones. you are at the end of your zzztrope. She fires another burst of static at Ingrid. The mass of shadows explodes in multiple directions.

Ingrid leaps off of the Orchestrator's body. With nothing keeping her suspended, the Orchestrator falls towards the ground, landing in the middle of the eyeball fields with a splat. She rises up shakily, and spots Ingrid (now fully bulked up again) looming in the distance.
INGRID: Five. The camera pulls back to reveal Ingrid, with what remains of her body held together by shadow, standing on top of the Orchestrator. She stands limply, with one hand clenched around the wires on the Orchestrator's back. INGRID: Missed one behind you. She tears the wires out.
The mass of shadows splits off into four distinct trails, each one weaving around the Orchestrator's static beam. One of them contains Ingrid, though it's not clear which. ORCHESTRATOR: with that final attack depleting your zztcalorie reserves your only zzt remaining option is to hide in shadows and attempt misdirection. The Orchestrator brings all four of weapons to bear. ORCHESTRATOR: unfortunately Each of her weapons tears through one of the shadow trails. ORCHESTRATOR: i can strike four targets at zztonce.

INGRID: You know, the problem with tying me up like this... ORCHESTRATOR: ? In an instant, spikes of bone extrude from all over Ingrid's body, poking out from between the wires ensnaring her. INGRID: Is you can't see what my body is doing. She narrows her eyes. The bone spikes fly from her body like missiles, and one nails the Orchestrator right in the face. The static disperses.
Ingrid looks towards the gun pointed at her. Behind her the background is lost in a wall of static. INGRID (VO): Kind of a bad place to be. Body's falling apart. Static's not letting me shape shadows. Then there's this gun. If I move at all, she'll shoot. No way I can heal it. The Orchestrator raises up her sword arm. Light glints off the blade. ORCHESTRATOR: i am going to sever your limbs. please do your best to endure. Ingrid's face goes dark. INGRID (VO): Bad place to be. Close up on her face. Flame flickers in her eyes. INGRID: But I've been through worse.
Ingrid grimaces as her body begins dematerializing. INGRID (VO): What the hell is she shooting...? Static...?! ORCHESTRATOR: if you seek my blood i grant it freely. for my blood is holy light. The shadows with which Ingrid has surrounded herself begin to melt away, leaking out between the coils she's trapped in. ORCHESTRATOR: as the lord's divine light drove out the darkness before time so shall mine purge the dark within you.
The Orchestrator stabs one of her drill claws into the ground to hold herself and Ingrid (who is now tangled up in her arms) suspended in the air. ORCHESTRATOR: do you think it matters? do you think anything you have done has mattered? The barrel of her machine gun points at Ingrid's head. ORCHESTRATOR: all that i must do She hits Ingrid with a huge "beam" of static, discharged out of her screen face. Ingrid recoils. ORCHESTRATOR: is keep you off the ground.

Ingrid sends The Orchestraor flying back down with a huge double-fisted overhand slam. Cracks run through the Orchestrator's skin now, and small pieces of it have begun to fall off. But as she falls, a red light begins to glow from within her busted TV head. MOURN: But the Lord's servants are as vindictive as they come. And even as her porcelain skin fell away... Ingrid, now down to her usual size, is suddenly wrapped up in the Orchestrator's weapon arms. Depleted of calories, her body is beginning to lose its structural integrity. MOURN (VO): The Orchestrator's only thought was of counterattack. Extreme closeup of the interior of the Orchestrator's head. It's a mass of pulsing red veins surrounding a circular void of static. ORCHESTRATOR: this has gone far enough.
Ingrid lands, skidding to a stop on a hill of eyes. The energy she's pulled out of the ground has burned away, leaving her with her normal physique. In the distance, The Orchestrator hits the ground hard and ricochets back into the air. MOURN (VO): Then lands again... Ingrid raises her right hand, which is already starting to enlarge. MOURN (VO): And refills... The Orchestrator's trip through the air is cut short by another collision with Ingrid's fist. MOURN (VO): Then that limit's not really there. A full cycle of this... Ingrid unloads a flurry of punches on the Orchestrator's body. MOURN (VO): Takes less than a second. (In real time, it's like this.)
MOURN: As long as Ingrid's on the ground... she's siphoning calories. Ingrid sprints towards the Orchestrator, who is now a distant speck far on the horizon. MOURN (VO): There's a limit to how much she can hold at once. Ingrid leaps towards the Orchestrator... MOURN (VO): But if she takes all she can... ...And nails her with a flying kick. MOURN (VO): And burns it all in one hit...
Ingrid connects with a monster of a kick that sends the Orchestrator flying backwards through the air again. Our beloved narrator Mourn is taken aback by the force of the strike. MOURN: WOW okay. Let me explain! Ingrid charges after the Orchestrator at extremely high speed, yelling her head off.
Ingrid's punch sends the Orchestrator flying at high speed across the field of eyes. She pursues, moving so quickly she is able to intercept the Orchestrator from the other side.

The world snaps back into focus. The Shadow stands alone, surrounded by the townsfolk of Spades. No anger registers on their faces; only shock and grief. Murmurs rumble through the crowd. The Shadow scowls... SHADOW: What the hell is wrong with you people...? ...and explodes in anger. SHADOW: DON'T YOU HAVE ANOTHER GUNMAN IN THIS TOWN?! YOU SEE A MAN ABOUT TO DIE, AND YOU JUST LET HIM?! NONE OF YOU LIFTED A FINGER!!!
Establishing shot, just outside of a dusty little town in the shadow of the tall, flat-topped mountains of a rocky desert landscape. We're standing just outside the fencing and gate that encircles the town, both of which have been haphazardly assembled out of scrap metal and machine parts. Looking closer, we can see that the the buildings are similarly constructed. The sign on the gate reads SPADES, POP: 217. NARRATION: Far, far out West. Look closer still, and we can see a large crowd of people gathering in the middle of town. They're dressed in old west fashions, and some of them can be seen to have cyborg implants. Most of them look anxious. NARRATION: Ain't exactly where the story begins... Finally we reach the front of the crowd. There, a woman clad all in black, wearing an eyepatch and sporting a huge braid that trails down to her feet, stares down a man with mutton chops and a cowboy hat. NARRATION: But it's as good a place as any.

The Orchestrator readies one of her drill claws. ORCHESTRATOR: inconsequential. however many pieces you regrow i will carve them away again. INGRID (VO): I wonder what happens...

She has sustained some damage from Ingrid's punch: her screen is cracked, her wires have frays in them, and one of her antennas has broken off. ORCHESTRATOR: undamaged. intact. structurally uncompromised. Ingrid stands up, turning to face her. Her hair billows out dramatically behind her. ORCHESTRATOR: persisting.

INGRID (VO): If I take out just a little bit... healing all this damage is trivial. Ingrid starts to rise, one fist clenched. INGRID (VO): And there's still so much more. I wonder...
