The segment reads:
“Should I—” she heard Rook begin to say before she was wrapped up in Rook’s arms, her face pressed tight into her sternum. The leather of her armour and coat was cold against Bellara’s cheek, thanks to the chill within the Arlathan Forest. Yet, despite it, Bellara felt warm, safe even, in Rook’s embrace.
“Is this alright?” Rook whispered. There was an uncharacteristic tremor in her voice. Nerves again? Hearing it made Bellara press her face in further, knowing it was impossible to get in further but wanting to all the same. The metaphorical lyrium dagger piercing the veil. But without all the pesky demons. And the Veil didn’t smell – if the Veil even had a smell, if she had to guess she would say it probably did – like buffed leather. The comparison made her smile, even as she sniffled.
