Original 350Z ran from 2003-05, with a facelift in 2006 (head/taillights, 5-spoke wheels, simpler ‘grille’) — it kept the hood with vertical creases. For 07-08 it got a new engine, requiring a taller, domed hood without creases. If you see a facelift Z with a creased hood, it can only be 2006

Looking at that has made me realise those earlier cars looked better for those creases. I'd never made the association before but it takes a lot of visual weight out of the front of the car.
