Key Findings: - Not all humour helps learning. Some actively harms it. - Students appreciate humour that serves the lesson, not humour that distracts from it. - Aggressive humour increases student anger and anxiety. - If a joke doesn't clarify the content, it's probably doing cognitive damage.
I sought to find subject related humor and feel my students really enjoyed it. Silly puns about moles (What's Avogadro's favorite snack? Chips and guaca-mole), brilliant songs ( https//youtu.be/f8... and youtu.be/zGM-wSKFBpo?...) made it fun and funny for all.
I found occasional humor helped students pay attention. Students that found themselves in a room of chuckling students without knowing what the joke was felt like they missed out on something.
