There are 161 candidates in Tasmania, slightly down on last year, but there's been a big drop in the number of ballot columns across the state, and a big jump in the number of independent candidates. That'll make for simpler ballots for most voters... www.abc.net.au/news/electio...

... but there are more independents in the 'ungrouped' column and more independents in multi-candidate groups (like the Peter George group) More than a quarter of all candidates are independents, a big jump on last year.
