I think we should expect them to violently freak out too
Some of the wild anti-AI screeds right here on Bluesky are to blame, too. Let's not leave some of these folks off the hook, who regularly dehumanize these folks.

No we expect people to violently freak out. Especially violence from those left behind towards the technocratic class who are stealing their cheese. And bread. When hungry people want to eat the rich, sometimes it is literal and not merely figurative.
The rhetoric and product decisions aren’t separate. Calling AI an existential threat to humanity isn’t just hype… it’s a governance strategy. If the stakes are truly that large, normal regulatory frameworks feel inadequate by design. Pretty convenient conclusion for the people building the thing!
