"hey don't get mad at us cause you lost your job, we suggested everybody get UBI and a free puppy but nobody listened!"

Let’s think about that for a second: where will the money for UBI supposedly come from? From the government taxing corporations. Because that currently works so well…. oh wait.

I’ll figure out other reasons to leave the house as long as money’s not an issue

1. The ‘pull yourself up by your bootstraps’ party will never vote for this 2. UBI will be so low that we’ll be surviving but not thriving 3. The only jobs available will be military, ICE, and various blue collar jobs - basically Bladerunner 4. We’re choosing this outcome as if it’s inevitable. 😠

Is the answer that tech companies would not be willing to be taxed to support it?

It's amusing how much of UBI discussion IGNORES adults who don't have jobs, retirees, trust fundies, college kids and young adults living at home. Do they lack dignity, purpose, reasons for waking up? How much is the argument for jobs akin to working at an office? It's what we've always done.

Ubi doesn't stop you from doing your job. You just get to do it on your own terms. This is bootlicking nonsense

Let people make their own reasons for leaving the house. We're not children. Don't parrot conservative anti-socialist talking points. I mean ubi won't happen for sure but not for good reasons.
Dadbod · Apr 21
There’s nothing in the last 50 years of our country’s history that says UBI is anything but a pipe dream tech oligarchs want us to believe….at least for a little while.

Nailed 1 and 2 from the World Economic Forum's top three reasons why AI is the fastest-growing risk to society over the next 10 years. Mass unemployment -> economic and social instability Inferiority to machines -> crisis of meaning
