After a handful of advertisements for the larger Mardi Gras film festival - anywhere from insurance ads from sponsors, to ads promoting PrEP, Louise and the program manager, Ing Diekmann, made their entrance. A brief introduction was made by both, with Louise joking after the content warning that she had been set up. I had actually seen Louise the day prior at a panel about problematic faves. It was a good panel with insight from a myriad of opinions and a good share of all panelist’s perspectives - props to Genevieve Fricker for moderating. I point this out not only to establish slight familiarity, but to enunciate a point. As a sidenote, there were some technical difficulties - the person ‘manning’ the movie - who I have since learnt is program co-manager, Joseph Pallas - had to visibly skip forward 10 seconds at a time through the looping ads to get to the movie. “Give me a break, I’m not paid for this! You came to see a movie in a warehouse, you knew what to expect!”, they jokingly quipped.
