Notwithstanding train issues, this has been a lovely three weeks of avoiding the heatwaves. The gaps in the map are the ferry trips Stockholm to Helsinki to Tallinn.

Ooo, how were the Baltic states? I would love to visit them some day.

V envious. This was my first plan till the teen got involved and has had me hoofing around Swiss mountains, climbing Etna and sweating thru Sicily. Ignoring him next year.

What a lovely trip! (And yes, we're taking all our big warm-climate holidays in April for the foreseeable...)

Impressed! Next year, I’m aiming to do a trip mostly to Vienna, maybe taking in wider aspects of the old Austria- Hungarian Empire (including Northern Italy).

Looks like a great trip. I know it's been much worse in the UK, but worth noting there has also been a heatwave across this region. Denmark recorded its highest ever temperature, 37c, on June 28th and temps have rarely fallen below high 20s for 3 weeks. Sadly, conditions are abnormal everywhere.

i love Stockholm to Helsinki on the ferry. highly recommend Kiel to Gothenburg overnight as well. Harwich to Rotterdam is fun too.

I would put money on this getting a lot more popular as summers in the Med become unfeasibly hot
