This magnificent old yacht is the pride and joy of it owner and has been restored to its original glory. Purchased in California and shipped across the country to lower Alabama it now rests in the Magnolia River. Oil on linen.

This giant evergreen sits along a path that circles the gardens at the Powerscourt Estate in Wicklow, Ireland. Enhancing the sky as I felt the place was quite magical, and the day we were there it was somewhat grey.

Water lilies float in a fountain while the fountain above casts shadows and water droplets creating a playful atmosphere where the lilies rest. Done in shades of reds, chartreuse green, against a dark indigo blue. Highlights of light blue, yellow and pinks add dramatic contrast.

A opening within a wooded area highlights the golden wildflowers and overgrown dirt road. As the road descends into the woods, one has to wonder what adventures lie ahead? Cool shadows of blue and muted greens and yellows, leads into warmer tones and then back to softer tones again.

PleinAir started, finished in the studio, oil painting of a new restaurant in Fairhope, Alabama called Sallie. The restaurant is located in an old olive green cottage, with a fantastic aged tin roof. Along the picket fence is a blooming azalea bush. Old live oaks can be seen in the background.
This rustic old cabin that is located along the Magnolia River in Alabama, has special memories for the owners family. It’s situated beneath magnificent live oaks draped in moss.
Shore birds along a sandy beach dance along the breaking waves looking for their next meal. Similar to a theatrical production, first one way, then another, and then others fly in to join. Done in calming tones of blues, tans, lavender and creamy whites. The sky also has an interesting part in this show, as thunderous clouds are breaking allowing just hints of sun and sky to break through.

This painting shows the Five rivers Delta preserve at the mouth of Mobile Bay, Alabama. It’s a late winter scene here along the Gulf Coast, showing a bare cypress tree without any foliage along the water’s edge. The clouds are thick and rolling in suggesting a storm is approaching. The colors are blues and purples in the sky and reflected in the muddy waters below.

This was a commissioned work for a couple that wanted a vacation memory of their trip to Antigua. The place they stayed had this unique covered structure with a hammock, surrounded by a pool which overlooks the ocean. They spent most of their vacation just hanging out here and wanted it captured in a painting. The painting has a tropical feeling, lots of shades of blue in the water of the pool, ocean and sky, a few puffy clouds, and of course greens in the surrounding landscape of palms. The focal point is of course the pagoda style structure with a hammock beneath it.

The surrounding landscape of marsh and trees are shown in various shades of light green, yellow greens and darker greens that almost read as violet and brown. The overcast pale blue sky is also reflected in the marshy waters.
